What a credit buys

The numbers, before you pay them.

These are typical figures, not a price list. What you actually spend depends on how long you stay in a lesson. Your own balance and every charge against it are itemised on your profile, so nothing about what you spent has to be taken on trust.

The questions worth asking.

What's a credit?
The unit we meter usage in. A tutor message costs about one and a half; a lesson thirty, or sixty if you have it read aloud. Courses with code cost more, because the workspace is a real machine running while you use it. We buy all of that by the token and by the second, so you pay by usage rather than by seat. A plan you barely touch shouldn't cost the same as one you live in.
Do unused credits roll over?
Yes, for up to two months. Your plan's allowance is added at the start of each month and a quiet month isn't forfeited, so a few weeks away doesn't mean starting from nothing — credits granted this month are still good next month too. Past that they expire, so the number stays a monthly allowance rather than a balance that grows forever.
What happens when I run out?
The tutor and the workspace stop until your next monthly refill, and nothing you've done disappears. Your courses, your progress and your place in each lesson are all still there when credits come back. If you'd rather not wait for the refill, you can buy credits outright at any time.
Can I buy credits without subscribing?
Yes. Top-ups are a one-time purchase, they never expire, and there's no renewal date attached to them. They do cost more per credit than a plan does — that's the trade for not committing to anything — so if you're using codeset most weeks, the plan is the cheaper way round. Buying a top-up while you're on a plan is fine too: it's a separate, permanent balance that sits on top of your monthly allowance, and your plan credits are always spent first — a top-up is there for when they run out, not competing with them.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from your profile. You keep the plan until the end of the period you've paid for. Credits already granted stay yours; we don't claw back what you paid for.
Why is there a free plan at all?
Because you can't tell whether a tutor is good from a landing page. 300 credits is around ten lessons from the catalog, or a course you generate yourself plus the first few of it: roughly the point where you'll know either way.
I'm a student and this is still too much.
Email hello@codeset.ai. We'd rather have you learning on a discount than not learning, and that's a real offer rather than a line on a pricing page.
